Today I want to introduce you the “Vampire Bacteria”. No, it is not a fantasy novel. Bacteria belonging to Micavibrio species are found to exhibit vampire-like behavior. These “vampire bacteria” attach other bacterial cells and suck the nutrients out of them.
Sounds scary?
For the victim bacteria maybe, but for us maybe not so much. Indeed, researchers have been already exploring how to use these “vampire bacteria” to kill human pathogens. If successful, this could also help to reduce/ eliminate the use of traditional antibiotics.
(Also, garlic has broad-spectrum antibiotic properties)
